D.E.A.R. - Princess Book

Katie & I finished her princess book today! No, we didn't just start it last week when we finished the other one - we had already read most of it. We just took a break to read the Nursery Rhymes & Fairytales. Today, we read the last Cinderella Story in the book and finished it!

Our next book is "Because of Winn-Dixie." We'll see how it goes because this will be our first chapter book that doesn't have any pictures. After this we will definitely be checking chapter books out of the library - at least until we can start building our Juevenile Library fast enough to keep up with Katie! When McKenna & I were at the library today the librarian gave me some really good recommendations. I'm excited to check them out and see how Katie likes them.

I think our next library addition (perhaps for Katie's birthday) will be the original Winnie the Pooh. I've never read them and have always wanted to. Perfect!

Do any of you have any suggestions? I think we're looking for 2nd/3rd grade chapter books (pictures would be nice, but not needed).

Junie B. Jones series, and Amelia Bedilia series, Box Car Children (maybe that would be too advanced.)

those were all ones the librarian recommended. i remember reading them as a kid, and i thought they would be too advanced too. but then again, i guess i wasn't interested in chapter books at 4...

Aamelia is kinda iffy in my mind, i loved them in 2nd grade but I recently read one and the language is archaic/outdated it seemed like the word play would be tough to follow for a 4 year old (though Katie does have rockin' language skills). What about a good collection of Aesop's fables? Or Mr Poppers Penguins? Or Peter Pan the original by J.M. Barrie? Let us know what you try!
