Conversation with McKenna

McKenna: Mom, is your tummy a girl or a boy?

Mom: {confused} Uh...a girl?

McKenna: What's her name?

Mom: {still confused} I'm not sure...

McKenna: Mine's a girl too. Her name is Abigail.

Mom: ?????

Precious Moment in Katie's Prayer

Katie: ...I'm thankful for Jesus and that He can take away our sins... Mom, can Jesus really take away our sins?

Mom: Yes, He can.

Katie: How?

Mom: Well, He can take away our sins through His Atonement when we are sorry for what we did and we repent and have faith in Him.

Katie: I have faith in Him.

Me: Me too.

{{she goes on to finish her prayer...}}

Conversation with Katie

Katie: Mom! McKenna far-ted!

Me: Oh honey, can you think of a better way to say that?

Katie: Why?

Me: Because saying "farted" isn't very lady-like.

Katie: It's boy-like?

Me: Yes, because boys are gross.

Katie: Why?

Me: They fart and burp and pick their noses.

Katie: {{thinking}} Well, I'm kinda like a boy.

{{LOTS of laughs and giggles from both of us}}

7 Years

7 years ago today, I married my best friend.
And boy was he quite a catch.
I look at this picture and remember how I felt that day - how excited and happy I was to marry Dave, and how relieved I was that the day I thought would never come, finally came.

What I didn't know that day is how much more I would love, admire, respect, and adore him 7 years later. Dave truly amazes me every day and I feel so lucky to be his. I feel even luckier that he is mine. Forever!

Happy Annivesary Babe!

I love you, I love you, I LOVE YOU!

Our Pumpkin Patch

Never quite got my act together this year in our garden. Mostly because I don't trust our crazy dog Bowser to not dig + chew it all up, partially because we had too many rainy weekends this spring to work in the garden, but probably because I just never got around to it.

I did, however, plant one pumpkin plant.
We love growing pumpkin and I figured no harm done if Crazy Dog ate them.
It would just be an excuse to go on a fun family date to the pumpkin patch.

So...
here is our pumpkin plant:

I have two things to say about this.

1.) Doesn't that seem like abnormally large to be just one plant? Just one little seedling?

2.) Does this look like pumpkin to you?

I think not.

Snackrament

Photobucket

McKenna: Hey! The sacrament is like a snack!

Meg: No, the sacrament is not a snack. It's the sacrament.

McKenna: {{thinking}} It's like a snack-rament.

Checkers

Photobucket
A few weekends ago, Dave & the girls made a checkerboard. Dave cut out the pieces, measured and drew the squares on the board, and then Katie & McKenna painted each square and each piece. Katie & Dave then played game after game until Katie learned the rules and fell in love with checkers. It was so fun to watch them create this project and it has been even more fun to watch Katie show her friends her checkboard she made and teach them all how to play. What a fun memory they created that day!

Obviously this was a very large family reunion. The picture above is my Dad's sister's family only! There were three other families there. Unfortunately we didn't get a picture of everyone together, and the Dow family was actually the only family to get a family picture, but I tried to get as many pictures as I could. I was sad MK wasn't there to take real pictures :) And, unfortunately I didn't get great shots of everyone. I'm still trying to figure this new camera out, and even though I took over 1000 pictures of our Disneyland/Reunion trip, so many of them were blurry or bad. So sorry if anyone was left out. I really did try. I'm just glad that I got a few posts worth of some good ones.

But more important than the pictures...
I am so glad we were able to all be together this August, both with the Jensen Family and the Hopkin/Dow Family. We really are blessed to be connected to such amazing people! We love you all.
